DAY 22 – DAY 23 Nairobi/ Mbale/West Kenya

DAY 22 – Nairobi/Mbale/West Kenya

December 21st, 2017

KARIBU – Welcome

We have a much needed day of rest today, and we are able to catch up with different things; some go for shopping, others for fellowship, and some just simply stay in the hotel.

What I have found in Rwanda, in the Congo and also here in Kenya, wherever we go, people are so receptive for the Word; everywhere is a great hunger and thirst for the Truth. We’ve given out many music MP3s and they were received with great joy. The move is on… and there is big disturbance in the unseen realm.

It’s a real eye opener for me this morning, when I witness to a lady in the hotel; she is like a sponge, so open and hungry for some Truth, and after a while she tells me about her messed up life, and that lately she started to go from church to church to look for something real, and she finally gave up. The last place she was in, they were not only after her money but also touched her indecently. She was seriously desperate to find a church where she could hear the Truth, and become a real Christian, and she gladly takes all the information of Brother Wycliff’s church.

DAY 23rd, 2017 – Traveling to Mbale/West Kenya

December 22nd, 2017

And today is our departure from Nairobi/East Kenya to Mbale /West Kenya, where Pastor Kijusa has invited us. This is another place where Brother Vin never has ministered before, and we are in great expectations what God has in mind for this group of people there.

The bus ride is supposed to be 8 – 9 hours, and it doesn’t take much time to leave the busy city of Nairobi behind. Because of several stops we are about twelve hours on the road. The journey is long, but a few stops on the way make it really enjoyable. The roads are pretty good, but lots of speed bumps slow us down every so often.

We also notice several police check points, where they randomly pull cars aside. Because of the holiday season, they have extra measures of security.

The first stop is at some Maasai shops, where we have a beautiful view over the Great Rift Valley and can also admire some typical crafts from this area here.

Little villages with sale stands on the road side popping up once in a while, and they sell lots of fresh fruits and produce. The soil is rich and everything is green. We see donkeys pulling carts with heavy loads, and lots of sheep, goats, cows; naturally speaking it’s a extremely fruitful area.

When the bus is stopping, people come running trying to sell their goods, all kinds of snacks and lots of roasted corn.

At exactly 6:09 p.m. we reach the Equator crossing.

By 7 p.m. it’s pitch dark, and only little fires by the road side signifying, that there is another small village.

We arrive at 9 pm at the venue for the convention, which is the Mbale Highschool, where they also have dorms for visitors, and many believers are staying here during the convention.

While the brothers set up the sound system, the little wooden benches of the building are filling up with believers; it’s 11 p.m. and we have been for almost 12 hours on the road. Those precious people seem to be expecting a service, sitting waiting, children sleeping on the concrete in their little blankets.

The singers start singing at 11:20 p.m., but since the morning service starts at 9 a.m, we are leaving right after midnight to get some rest.

After a little midnight snack at a close-by hotel, we are heading to our abode for the next five nights, the Sosa Cottages, very nice, quiet and clean. Because we are up since five this morning, we are no doubt very weary and tired and falling asleep right away.

More tomorrow…
