Day 1
We are once more privileged to accompany Brother Vin, Brother Timmy and Brother Bishop for the next 12 days to be in service to the Bride of Christ in Moscow and also in Siberia. It seems to be such a short time to travel such a distance and to accomplish the things of God and bring the desired purpose of God to the believers here, but our God is more than able… He can do more in a split of a second than a person could do in his entire life time.
When I think that we are visiting this part of the world at a time like this, where there is political unrest everywhere, where the security measures are pushed up higher than ever before, where it’s already very cold… then I am reminded of the children of Israel, that God made them cross the Jordan when the water was the very highest. He is always coming through in showing His glory, no matter the situation and condition.
So, here we are meeting today around noon time at the airport in Frankfurt/Germany at gate B24 to board flight # LH 1446 for Moscow. Brother Vin, Timmy and Brother Bishop are already travelling many hours when they reach here; very tired and worn, just returning from services in Brazil two days ago. This is not human strength anymore. But while the doors and hearts of the believers are open, we have to move by the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
The flight time from Frankfurt to Moscow is only about 3 hours and when we arrive in Moscow it’s already dark. We have a 7 hour time difference to Trinidad here. Except Brother Bishop, we make it through the immigration process alright, but he is kept without any reason in another line for more than one additional hour.
Brother Sergey Volkov, the hosting pastor here in Moscow, and his helper Brother Marcel are waiting patiently for us. As soon as we get out of the airport we can feel the cold air and looking at the snow on the side of the road makes us shiver a little more.
The drive to Brother Sergey’s home takes another 3 hours and it seems a never ending drive through the outskirts of Moscow with heavy traffic, while it’s foggy, snowy and kind of dismal outside. People and trees are looking just like fading shadows. I find it strange that so many cars are just standing left and right with their lights on, but not driving. Traffic is extremely slow and we are all so very tired.
But we finally arrive at about 9:30 p.m. at Brother Sergey’s home. When we step out of the van, the road is like a big icy mirror and we have to carefully watch every step not to slip and fall.
It seems that Brother Sergey’s home and the church is one big building, and Brother Bishop’s and Timmy’s room is right beside the fellowship room downstairs, while Brother Vin’s room is right beside the sanctuary upstairs. We are with the family in one of the children’s rooms; it’s comfortable warm inside and we enjoy the hospitality of Brother Sergey’s family.
Although it’s late and we are all very tired, we find ourselves around the big bountiful dining room table, where we are refreshed after such a long journey.
It’s almost midnight when we go to bed.
