5. DAY KIGALI/RWANDA

Day 5 – Kigali/Rwanda

December 4th, 2017

It’s a great day for the ministers today, as they gather for a Minister’s meeting, which they desired for so long, and I am sure, it refreshed their assignment for their responsibility in this very late hour. More than 40 ministers from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Uganda, South Africa, Congo and different parts of Rwanda are gathering in the church for this meeting.

Brother Vin is very open in this meeting, showing the ministers that they should be watchmen in the city and have spiritual vision to see what’s happening around them.

While some of the brothers are attending the Minister’s meeting, some sisters and yes, also brothers take the opportunity to wash clothes the African way… others practice songs, it’s a relaxing day for most of us.

In this part of the journal I want to take the opportunity to write a few more personal things, which have impressed me, and what I have observed during our stay here.

Pastor Balinda and his wife are wonderful examples of Christianity, very humble, with big hearts. They let us stay in their spacious Guest House, making sure that we are all taken care off,  feeding us three healthy meals a day, and their great hospitality has exceeded all our expectations.

One thing is for sure, the Bride of Christ has the same Spirit all over the world; wherever we go, we can feel the same harmony and love, striving to please the Lord.

I also want to mention here, that Brother Vin’s interpreter, Brother Christophe, was just amazing.  He didn’t miss a beat, with great joy!

In fellowship with different sisters we are told today,  that after the terrible genocide there seems to be not a single murder in this country, and if there would be, he would be in prison for life; mind you, prisons are not like those in the Western world, they are real punishment. Killing a person is considered the greatest sin.

It always takes a little while for the people to open up, because their trust is so hurt, their spirits so broken sometimes. That’s why some of the older people during the first services were sitting seemingly so still; it took some time for them to recognize that they can come out of their shell. It really is amazing that especially the younger people here and also the workers in the Guest House are so kind, and generous to us. Although we have a language barrier, we laugh a lot and it feels like family. They all work in harmony to accommodate us in every way and God will bless their generous and efforts.

Another outstanding thing is that this city is so clean. It is similar like Singapore, where people even would get fined when they would throw a piece of chewing gum on the street or sidewalk. We recognized also the modesty of the dressings of the woman here, not only the believers, but most of the common people are clean and properly dressed, many still in their tribal colorful garments.

In the evening some of the young people come to the Guest House and we have a wonderful time of fellowship and singing.
